For Employers:

TRAKS International USA-ASIA recruits Thai college students to live and work in the USA for seasonal employment up to four months.  The purpose of our Work and Travel Program is to promote an inter-cultural experience for both employer and employee. As an employer you will benefit from having motivated and dedicated workers who are eager and willing to work for you and your company.

Not everyone has the personal stamina, confidence and courage to leave their country and work and live in an unfamiliar culture. Those who do, tend to be very flexible, open-minded and resourceful individuals---traits that make a great employee. These students want to work in America, want to learn about your business and want to share their experiences with their friends and families back home. This isn’t just a summer job for them---this is a experience of a lifetime!  And, they treat it with the importance and seriousness you would want from an employee.

TRAKS International USA-ASIA is very proud to be placing Thai nationals in our work and travel program. Thais have wonderful personal and cultural characteristics that make them highly desirable as employees. They are typically ever-smiling, non-aggressive and respectful. They are also very quick to learn new skills. Relationship is very important in Thai culture as is friendship.  Reciprocity of kindness and generosity are special values esteemed by Thai culture. When a Thai considers you a friend, you are friends for life and you have their loyalty. Their natural compassion and good heartedness makes them valuable assets on any employee team. We know that once you experience working with Thai students, you will continue to want to fill your summer positions with Thai employees each year.

All TRAKS International’s student participants undergo a vigorous screening process and only those who demonstrate a high proficiency in English as well as an aptitude for success can qualify for our program.

Do employers pay for the service?

Employers do not pay to participate in the Work and Travel Program.  Students pay a fee to participate in this program. This fee covers services which include: information on available employment and housing, application processing, personal interview, visa sponsorship, orientation, medical insurance and ongoing support from TRAKS International during the length of the program.

What are employers expected to provide to the students?

Employers are expected to have the position available that the student applied for with the number of work hours promised in the contract.

Employers will pay students the same rate as an American counterpart doing the same job.

They will also provide housing (or information on housing), job related orientation and training, and opportunities to meet Americans.

Employers will assist students in getting to the nearest Social Security office when they arrive to obtain their Social Security card.

Employers will be available to assist students with any problems that may occur particularly in the employer-employee business relationship.

Do students have taxes deducted?

Students pay Federal Income Tax, State Income Tax and, if any, City Income Tax.  Social Security Tax, Medicare or Federal Unemployment Tax are not deducted from paychecks.

How long can students stay?

The maximum a student can work for is four months, but many students may be available for shorter times.  After completion of work, they may travel in the U.S. for an additional month.

Are students allowed to take a second job?

Yes.  Students may take a second job if it does not interfere with fulfilling their obligations with the employers listed on their DS-2019.
