TRAKS International USA-ASIA offers coverage to all its participants during their time of employment.  The provider used is BUPA–Blue Cross of Thailand.  BUPA-Blue Cross was founded in 1985 and has quickly become the leading health insurance specialist in Thailand with a reputation for service excellence and value.

How do I confirm whether my treatment is eligible for benefit?
Call BUPA–Blue Cross first before you go for treatment. You can telephone the Customer Service Center at 0-632-1122.  Please have the name of the covered person and the policy number.

How do I make a claim?
If you use one of BUPA–Blue Cross’s listed network hospitals and clinics just show your membership card. The hospital will then send BUPA all the eligible expenses directly for settlement. You will be expected to pay any expenses in excess of your benefit limits or any ineligible expenses such as telephone calls and additional meals.
If you are admitted as an inpatient the hospital will always call BUPA-Blue Cross first just to reconfirm your level of cover.
If you use a non-listed hospital or clinic you will be expected to settle all expenses yourself. You will then need to send us the following documents:

  • Original invoice
  • Original receipt
  • Medical certificate showing the following
  • Name of the person treated
  • A description of the treatment
  • The diagnosis or condition for which the person was treated
  • The date and period of treatment

Am I covered anywhere in the world?
You are covered in all countries except in the USA where cover is restricted to the treatment of injuries resulting from an accident only.

How do I claim for treatment abroad?
Just follow the procedure as above. If you have a serious accident and no funds ask the hospital to telephone us or fax the number shown on your membership card. We will than be able to confirm your benefit and arrange direct settlement.
If your expenses are in a foreign currency we will use the exchange rate as of your date of discharge from hospital or the date of your outpatient treatment.

What am I covered for?
Here is a summary guide to which hospital and medical charges are eligible for reimbursement. You should also check your policy wording and membership handbook for details of your own coverage. You should also check the cost of treatment with your doctor and your choice of hospital so that you are fully aware of your level of cover. If you are unsure whether a proposed treatment is eligible for benefit or would like advice on which hospital is appropriate for your choice of scheme, please contact BUPA–Blue Cross Customer Service Center. The first 1,000 baht or approximately $25 of each and every claim per disability or injury is not insured.'

Inpatient hospitalization
BUPA Thailand will cover the following charges related to inpatient hospital treatment:

  • Hospital room and board including nursing care up to $185 or 7,000 baht
  • Hospital services including drugs, dressings, special nursing, x-rays, laboratory tests
  • Fees for surgeon, anesthetist and operating theatre
  • Inpatient physician and specialist fees
  • Ambulance and paramedic services
  • Emergency room treatment
  • Outpatient follow up care

Personal accident cover
Benefits are paid for losses arising from injury due to external causes. Compensation is paid for the following:

  • Loss of life arising from an injury
  • Dismemberment, loss of sight, hearing and speech
  • Permanent disability

What am I not covered for?
Although you will be covered for the major costs of treatment, there are certain things that BUPA Thailand has to exclude. Full details of these can be found in your policy document. Some of the conditions which we cannot pay for are as follows:

  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Treatment for sickness during the first 30 days from the commencement of your policy (applies to Personal Care, Small Company Care and Platinum members only)
  • Treatment which is not recommended by a doctor or which is not appropriate for the condition or symptoms presented by the member
  • Birth control, treatment of infertility and hormone replacement therapy
  • Treatment arising from a self inflicted injury, suicide attempt, alcoholism, drug abuse or sexually transmitted diseases
  • Appliances such as spectacles, lenses, hearing aids or wheelchairs.
  • Routine health checks, eye examination and eye laser treatment.
  • Treatment for congenital abnormalities.
  • Mental illness and stress related conditions.
  • HIV/AIDS and HIV related illnesses.
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Transplant surgery and supportive treatment of renal failure.
  • Pregnancy and childbirth unless maternity cover is purchased. In this event pregnancy and childbirth will not be covered during the first 280 days of the commencement of the optional maternity cover.
